Q: Tell us the story behind your suit. What style did you go for and why?
A: For as long as I can remember, I always had a vision of running a classic, timeless look. I’ve always been drawn to traditional fashion and so it ended up being an easy decision in the end. With Tim’s guidance and a black and white tux in mind, it wasn’t long before I settled on ‘the one’. I wore a single-breasted, shawl jacket with adjustable trousers, and honestly, I couldn’t have ever imagined how perfect it turned out. From the way it looked to the way it fit, I felt a million dollars and on my wedding day itself, it wasn’t until I suited up that everything began to feel very real. I actually didn’t take my suit off the whole day, staying suited and booted and soaked in champagne until 1am. If that doesn’t prove how much I loved my suit, I don’t know what will. I simply didn’t want to take it off.
Q: What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day?
A: There were countless memorable moments, with highlights like cocktail hour, the jeroboam champagne tap, the speeches, the haka, and everyone going all out on the outdoor dance floor until 1am. Most unforgettable though was having all my favourite people together in one place.
Q: What piece of advice would you give to anyone planning a wedding?
A: Trust the process and make sure your wedding day represents you both. Whether you want to get married on a beach or in a barn, you’ll feel a whole lot more comfortable if your day is what you imagined rather than conforming to anything else. I would recommend identifying your non-negotiables early and the rest will fall into place. For me, this was nailing the venue, good music and having no curfew (my wife had many more of course) and because we achieved everything, we had the most epic day.
“I cannot speak highly enough of Tim and his expertise in tailoring. From the start, Tim picked up on the fact I was a groom in need of guidance and support, and it wasn’t long before I was at ease in Tim’s shop and understanding of the journey ahead. Tim has truly mastered the art of balancing professionalism with fun, and upon reflection I feel like Tim is more of a friend than anything. Tim offered numerous consultations to ensure the suit was perfect; nothing was ever too much for him. A class touch was receiving a text from Tim a few hours before the ceremony, a show of how invested he is in his clients having the best day ever. Honestly, having the perfect suit and feeling literally amazing was one thing, however, to have shared such a memorable time with Tim in the lead-up to the wedding, this is what I am most grateful for. To any groom that is reading this, look no further - Tim is your tailor as he is mine.”
